01 Jul Perfect 4th of July Cookout
The 4th of July is no doubt one of the best days of the year. Complete with cookouts, friends and family, beer, patriotism, and of course fireworks! But, as far as cookouts go, there are a few main items you need to entertain your guests appropriately this Independence Day.
It’s not until the guests have arrived and begun to settle in that the absence of lawn games becomes apparent. Cornhole, bocce and croquet can be enjoyed by nearly all age levels and can be as competitive or casual as the players would like.
Let’s be blunt here, a nice cold beer is a must at a cookout. Hosting a BYOB cookout is the easiest way to do it, that way you are not in charge for how much to buy!
Homemade Ice Cream
Okay, so obviously ice cream is a must at any event, especially an outside event, but something about the 4th screams HOMEMADE. Once lunch has been devoured, people typically tend to get a huge sweet tooth. So, make them happy!
Put on the music while grilling the meats. You can even have “name that tune” as a fun game to pass time. Let the crowd choose what song they want to play next, this always seems to keep everyone entertained!
These keep the mosquitoes away. Not everyone is affected by the bugs, but others may get bit quite a lot. You want to make sure all of your guests are comfortable at your party and these will do the job.
Duh. This fruit is the fruit of all fruits to have at any cookout, especially on the 4th of July. Why? Because it is so dang juicy and tasty on a hot day. You must buy a watermelon. No ifs, ands or buts.
No better way to end the night than sparklers. Make sure you are with your children when you light them and they stay close while playing with them. They are safe, but keep in mind it still is fire. P.S. They are great for pictures!
And, with all due respect – as much red, white and blue as possible!!
